In 2010, Steam updated Half-Life 2 to the orangebox engine. Technically, this version is superior to the version from 2004. But in nostalgia terms (at least for me), they killed it. They changed some effects like the blood particles. So at the end, those are just minor differences for some people - But for me its a huge difference in nostalgia
